For those of you who got excited about the hamburger, it didn't work out so well. It was overcooked and not very easy for her to eat. She still has a problem with being able to chew much at all. It seems that chewing still sets off the jaw pain and after the failed attempt at the burger she ordered a soft roll and some jello for dinner last night. Keep praying for the jaw pain to clear up, the doctors still seem to think that it should go away as the chemo does it thing. Her white blood cell count has dropped to 1.0 (normal is between 4 and 11), which means that the chemo drugs are working. She got her first injection of Neupogen to stimulate her white blood cell production to get her count back up before any more chemo given. Pray that she stay free of any infection until then. Kidneys are doing a good job, she got rid of 8 liters of urine yesterday and lost about 14 pounds of fluid and is feeling much more comfortable. Her blood chemistry is improving and continues to be closely monitored. Pray for 1) no infections 2) jaw pain to subside and 3) some nutritional alternatives and improvement in her ability to eat without the discomfort. Your love is overwhelming.

Katrina and family,
ReplyDeletePraying for you on this journey. I was sad to see that the hamburger didn't work out very well! I've been praying for your jaw and will continue to pray for the pain there. Love you!
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
(Psalm 46:1)
Well, I know that it's not the same but they can blend the burger up for you....at least you'll get the protein. Chin up, little one! You're doing great! Miss you like crazy.

Dear Katrina, Louis, Lori and Steve,
ReplyDeleteOur family has been praying for all of you to experience His comfort, peace, strength in very special ways as He meets all your needs. We are praying for the Great Physican's hand guiding the doctors and medicine to bring you back to health, Katrina! Thanks so much for this blog as we can pray for specifics as they come up! Steven wants me to tell you to read Psalm 86 as it reminds him of how huge our God is! Love, Phil and Jan, Tim, Rebecca and Steven Young
I spent 9 weeks on a soft food diet following jaw surgery. After 8 weeks of the usual - smoothies, potatoes, eggs, etc., I made a startling discovery. Chopped BBQ beef (either from a restaurant or from the grocery) can be spooned in, chewed a little, and swallowed with little effort. So, if she's craving meat, she might try that. ReplyDeleteThe Decker family is praying for you Katrina.
ReplyDeleteMay the Lord be a very near comfort to you.
May His hand of grace heal you and give you strength day by day.
All our Love,
In His precious name,
Gary, Chris and Corey Decker
Good morning Yangs and Hilbergs :)
ReplyDeleteToday Rich and I are going to the courthouse because our friends are adopting twins. Neena got a new dress with matching purple shoes!
I am praying for you, Katrina, and am sorry the hamburger didn't work out. I am trusting in God's plan and looking forward to when I can see you :)
Warmly,
Wendy
I'm sorry about the burger, perhaps this would be a good time to try ice cream for dinner? I'm keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Katrina & family,
ReplyDeleteEthan and I were reading the blog post last night and he was amazed by by the 8 liters. He also wanted you to know he includes you in his classes morning prayers. Hope you're able to eat something good soon.
With love,
Shelly
I am sorry that the hamburger did not work out. Reading about it cused me to remember the time Jack and I ran into you, Steve, and Katrina at In-N-Out. I guess she needs a good California In-N-Out burger. Hugs to all of you.

Shaklee Protein and green popsicles sustained Steve for almost 2 years when his leukemia treatment was still new. The popsicles soothed his throat and just sort of melted... and he said they tasted soooo good! Let me know if we need to bring some down, we're happy too! Or anything else for that matter. We pray without ceasing.
ReplyDeleteLove to all of you,
Nancy McMillan
