Going home tomorrow!

Great news, Katrina is being discharged tomorrow! She is so excited about this. She has been wanting to go home really badly for the past week and she has been working hard to show that she is ready by walking around her floor and going on some wheel chair rides. The doctor in Katy who diagnosed her with leukemia said that she would be in the hospital 4-6 weeks and she is being discharged 1 month- to the day- that she was diagnosed. Another thing that makes going home this week so special is that Louis is on spring break so he will get to be with her all week long. The timing couldn't be better. Her white blood cell count is up significantly today. Yesterday it was .6, which was a big improvement from the .1 it had been the past couple days and 0 the two days before that. Today it is 3.1 the normal range is 4-11 so she is doing great. There is a strong possibility she will get platelets today to help with her hemoglobin levels. All of you who are signed up for the blood drive THANK YOU! When I talked to her on Friday after she had received a transfusion she said that she felt so much better. Giving blood is so important.

Katrina had another bone marrow biopsy this morning. It went well and we are hoping that she will be able to nap now. The procedure is painful and she needs extra pain medication for it. Please pray that the results come back showing that this first round of chemo worked and that there is no more cancer. The doctors said that with her particular treatment there is often no cancer found even this early on. She will continue treatment and chemotherapy no matter what the results are to make sure the cancer doesn't return. She will go in to Houston three times a week for out patient treatment.

She was seen by her GI doctor this morning and he thinks things are moving in the right direction. Her body is resolving the digestive issues she is having very slowly. She also continues to have jaw pain.

One sad thing today- her hair is falling out so she will be shaving her head this afternoon. She has some cute hats and a scarf but this is going to be hard for her.

Please pray for:
decreased pain and healing in her abdomen and jaw
the transition home
that her white blood cells to continue to increase and that she won't get any infections.

We are so thankful for the encouragement and support from all of you.

  10. Katrina, So happy that you will be going home tomorrow!! That's wonderful news. We will continue to pray for remission and decrease in pain.

Had to share something special from yesterday. At church, our Pastor asked the congregation for prayer requests, and Andrew raised his hand. In his sweet little voice, he asked for prayer for his teacher who is sick in the hospital with "Leukemias". There wasn't a dry eye in the house! It was heartfelt and showed how much you are on his mind.

We're loving our "Yang's Gang" t-shirts and wearing them everywhere. This week, we'll be introducing them to Corpus Christi.

Much love, Laura and Andrew Williams and family

  13. Katrina,
I am so excited, the tears are about to run down my face!!! I had made plans to come see you on Wednesday since my Mom was coming to visit and be with Landri and Rilynn, but PRAISES you will not be there, you will be in the comforts of your own home!!
My continued prayers for you continue as you transition home.
I just shared the wonderful news with Landri and she said, "Mrs. Yang will get to wear her own clothes!" I am sure you are excited about that as well!
We love you, please let us know if there is anything we can do for you. Steven says if your yard needs mowing, we can do that also!
