Chemo day 11

Psalm 54:4, "Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me." I am thankful to report that Katrina's chemotherapy went well today. She got her Vincristine, Decadron and then they started the Rituximab- which is the one she reacted to the first time. Typically patients don't react to this after getting it once. Her vital signs were watched closely and she did well. She was given something to make her sleepy and she slept through much of it. Another thing that went well is good urine output. The acute renal failure was a scary time and we are grateful for your prayers for the kidney function returning to normal. The bump in the road today is that they are increasing her antibiotics to treat a blood infection. The culture this AM showed something and we'll know more tomorrow what the cause is. They will continue to watch this with blood cultures. Please pray with us that the antibiotics quickly take care of this problem. She had a visit today from the Chronic Pain doctor who is increasing her Lyrica since that seems to be helping the jaw pain. A CT scan is ordered for her jaw and she may be taken for that still tonight then the Dentist here is going to examine her. Please pray the chemo quickly eradicates this problem of the jaw pain!! Pray the chemo "recipe" she is getting is exactly what will put her in remission. It appears to be doing what it is supposed to. Thank you for all the cards and "treats" you have showered Katrina with-she gets teary and overwhelmed by your love. And thank you from "mom" Johnny for the Panara sandwich on Sat. and Missy for the delish salad today. And to all who have provided snacks for our room- they continue to be a blessing. Lori

  2. I check your blog every day, several times a day and always want to leave a comment but I am left speechless ... either by your beautiful friends and the sweet things your students say to you or the powerful, meaningful scriptures from the people who love you. I am so thankful for the love and support you are receiving because it is SO hard to be so far away. Wendy's small note above encouraged me to write something rather than just sit speechless:) We are holding you dear in our hearts and close to our Savior. Love, Kathy

  3. Hang in there Katrina. I can't put in to words how often I think of you in a day, check this blog, ask people to keep you in their thoughts, prayers, etc. It is so in my nature to want to help take some of this burden from you, and to ask questions, questions, questions. I am so grateful to everyone who is keeping us informed about your treatment and care. Remember how loved you are by all of us.
And to Louis and Lori....I'm sending you extra hugs and love to. Being a caregiver is draining and exhausting, and rewarding and honorable. I am thinking of you constantly too. You are brave, and strong, and Katrina is so lucky to have you by her side.
With all the love in my heart,
    Shannon Poole

  7. Katrina,

Praying that this chemo combinatins are just what your body needs and that you will start to feel some relief from the jaw pain. Like everyone else has said after this post, I think of you so often and check the site so often to know how I can specifically can pray for you throughout the day. I have heard this Chris Tomlin song often in the past few days on KSBJ and it makes me think of you each time,

    Our God is greater

    Our God is stronger

God you are higher than any other

    Our God is Healer

    Awesome in power

    Our God

Praying for you tonight and that you may get some rest from the long day.

    Love ya,
    Sara

  8. Hi Sweet Katrina, Lori, and Louis,

  9. Katrina,
I love reading all the cute little things your little K's say about you. I don't blame you for missing them. Isn't God awesome to give you little students to always make you feel like a million bucks even if your body might not feel that way? We are praying for you (and your family too).
    Love, Kami and family

  12. Thank you for keeping us all updated... it is terrible to be so far away and not be able to come and say hello and give you hugs but we are praying...
Do as thou hast said, that thy name may be magnified forever. 1 Chron 17:23,24
Every promise of scripture is a writing of God, which may be pleaded before Him with this request; "Do as Thou hast said." The Heavenly Father will not break His word to His own child. You are that precious child of Gods!!!
    Love You All
