Sunday at MD Anderson

Deuteronomy 31:8 "The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged." Thanks to everyone who has sent a Bible verse to encourage Katrina. We do read through them and find comfort. The Deuteronomy verse above stood out to her early on as one to "read again". It has since been the one she suggested we memorize. It has daily been just what she needs to get through whatever physical issue has come up. Yesterday she started saying her stomach didn't feel good. It was non-specific which I have since found out is exactly how patients getting chemo describe this kind of discomfort. She was able to eat some breakfast but felt worse as the AM went on. It turned out to be nausea/vomiting so an IV Zopharan (sp?)helped with that problem. She is doing better tonight and went on a "walk" in our G-12 little pod of rooms. The other problem is that the steroids she is taking causes patients to be more emotional so the past couple of days that kind of rises up. Incredible what the side effects of the meds are. All this to say, today the last part of the verse ministered to us "do not be discouraged" We have a God who is with us and gives us Hope that is certain and does not disappoint! Thanks for praying. Chemo is scheduled to resume on day 11 which is tomorrow. Lori

  2. Rich and I have rested on Deuteronomy 31:8 so many times before, thank you for bringing it out again. Praying for all side effect to subside and that this round of chemo does its job without any unexpected issues. So glad to hear that you have gotten out of your room for just a bit but I know that makes all the difference in the world.

    With continued prayer,

  3. Our family continues to pray for your every need Katrina. Here is a verse my mother-in-law has said to me many times and I find myself using it to give me strength when times are tough....

    "For the Lord has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power and love and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7

    With love,

  4. Beth Moore was talking about 2 Timothy 1:7 today and I was going to share it with you...well someone already has! God bless you as you start more chemo. I pray that it is helpful to you. Above all else, I plead with the Lord that you do not lose your joy.

    Isaiah 25:9
    In that day they will say,
    "Surely this is our God;
    we trusted in him, and he saved us.
    This is the LORD, we trusted in him;
    let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation."

    Isaiah 41:10

  6. Lori, I heard you and Brian had quite the adventure today:) Glad he was able to find you!

    As I was doing my bible study today I was reading Exodus 14 and thought of Katrina when I read these verses.

    Verses 13-14
    "Moses answered the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still."

    Take heart and rest because the Lord is fighting the cancer for you.

    We love you all! Let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.
    Praying for less side effects from all the meds.
