Forgot to wear green

Psalm 62:5-6, "Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, He is my fortress, I will not be shaken." It is really nice for Katrina and Louis to be home. We have to remember that things are not the same as a month ago- recovery from chemo is a slow process because the drugs are so harsh, as they need to be. Thanks to all who are praying for restful sleep. Katrina was so happy to be in her own comfortable bed, but sleep patterns are certainly disrupted and so we will continue to make adjustments. We do find our spiritual rest in the Lord alone, even if our physical rest eludes us for a time. Keeping our eyes on the cross of Christ, we will not be shaken.
This AM the nurse came from home health care and taught Louis and me how to do the IV antibiotics. She gets 3 per day. That and figuring out all her oral meds schedule basically took up the AM. Louis made a spread sheet which will make it easier for tomorrow. I had to call Katrina's pharmacist dad for help once. The rest of the day was unpacking stuff from the hospital, getting supplies, and settling in. Katrina and I had kind of a weepy day. We opened cards that had been sent while she was in the hospital and had zero WBC's and we didn't bring things into her hospital room. We don't know how to thank you for your prayers and caring, extreme generosity, and kindnesses toward her and Louis. You are truly storing up treasure in heaven (we are benefiting on earth.) thank you for being the hands and feet of the Lord to bless us during this time. Please accept this as a personal expression of our gratitude.
I suppose many of you are enjoying corned beef/cabbage or something green tonight:) It is the first time in years I didn't realize it was St. Patrick's Day- I always have fun with holidays- ask Katrina sometime:) Tomorrow we venture back to MD Anderson Cancer Center for her first outpatient visit. I am so glad Louis is on spring break so the 3 of us can figure this out together for the first visit as this will be our pattern for some time. blessings, Lori

  1. God is so neat! I read the same verse today in my Bible study time. I was going to send it to you. I am glad you all have been writing that one on your hearts.
Love to you all and continued prayers for rest and healing.

  5. Katrina and Family,

As a matter of fact, my husband and I did wear green yesterday. We went out last night to celebrate St. Pat's, but also to celebrate your homecoming, and the news of remission in the preliminary reports. We were happy to raise a glass of green beer to your continued recovery.

We pray for you daily and look forward to more celebrations on your behalf. And that's no blarney!

    Love,
    Pam Lopez

  6. Okay, I am hopelessly not technological, but suddenly saw this place to post. Katrina was my husband's student at NWC and my student teacher, dearly loved by both of us. We continue to pray daily for her and have shared her needs with many back here in OC. We wear our Yang's Gang t-shirts with pride. Tell Katrina it even went to that "other college" down the road worn proudly by Ed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you daily!

Love from Ed and Kim in Orange City, Iowa
