day 8 course 2

Today was every bit as tiring as anticipated. We left the house at 8:30AM and got back about 9:00 tonight. Things went fine at the hospital but we are still "new" enough at all this to not know exactly what to expect and when, except that there is a lot of waiting. This AM was blood work (which came back good), a review with the Physician's Assistant and then we went to the cafeteria to get some lunch. We went to check in for out-patient chemo and waited our turn. She had a private little room with a bed for which we were grateful. I think the LP was around 3:00 and it went OK but Katrina's back is sore tonight. The last IV chemo started and her blood pressure was a bit low so they stopped it for about 20 minutes and restarted it and all went just fine. We stayed a little over an hour after it was done as they require, then got our car and drove back home. She is sore, fatigued, and overwhelmed by the day. Chemo is hard! Louis is in praying for her now. Pray for a restful night for her. Your encouraging notes, emails, and expressions of love mean so much in getting her through this. We go back to MD Anderson on Saturday AM for blood work and a review. At least traffic should move well early on Saturday! Plus Louis will drive us:) Lori

  1. Katrina, Lori and Louis,
I am praying you all have a restful night tonight as well as a restful day tomorrow. I am so glad to hear that things are going better through round 2. Landri and I pray for you nightly after we read books. Landri is doing so well, yet misses you terribly, but she knows that you are in God's hands and that you are getting the "medicine" you need.
We love you and are continually praying for you.

  2. Luke 11:9-10
Jesus said to the disciples, "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."

Tomorrow is Good Friday - to Christians it is the day that Christ was crucified. May we all remember His sacrifice for us. God bless you as you face each day.

  4. Praying for you and your family, and I just wanted to share this inspirational Easter poem by Helen Steiner Rice. ~Shari Melzar

In this restless world of struggle
it is very hard to find
    Answers to the questions
    that daily come to mind.
    We cannot see the future,
    what's beyond is still unknown,
For the secret of God's kingdom
    still belongs to Him alone.

    But He granted us salvation
    when His Son was crucified,
    For life became immortal
    because our Saviour died.
Life is not a transient thing,
It is change but never loss,
    For Christ purchased our salvation
When He died upon the Cross.
