Bring it on Round 3!

"Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today."
Exodus 14:13

I am on my way into Round 3 and really you wouldn't even know it. I feel the same as I did before I even started chemo and my blood counts even went up today! Chemo is a strange thing... that's about all I can say about that. The only really downside I have had so far is barely sleeping last night. I didn't get to start my Rituximab until after 10:00 last night and unfortunately that is the one med that they really have to monitor me with during this cycle. They have to check my vitals every 15 minutes for the 1st hour, every half an hour for the next hour, and then every hour after that. Needless to say... I didn't sleep too much. I also got Cyclophosphamide (which is the generic for Cytoxin... wouldn't you love the medicine you're getting to be called toxin???), Mesna, and Decadron as well so it was a busy night! Thankfully I had a WONDERFUL nurse and she was so on top of things watching the time she would need to come in so I at least did not have to bother with an irritating beeping IV pole and nurse call button :) I am lucky enough to have Lyndsey as my nurse again tonight... I know we say it a lot, but God has really blessed us through so many amazing nurses here.

Today we actually got bored here in the hospital... we weren't quite sure what to do with our time not having to go down for tests or wait for specialists like before. The walk around my unit is starting to bore us as well. That may sound funny, but it used to be a HUGE struggle for me to walk it a few times and now I we walk it so many times we could do it with our eyes closed. We did however, walk around the hosptial and even went out to a little rose garden for a while when I was not running chemo. It is so nice to be able to get outside for a little bit. The funny part is that in order to get to the rose garden you have to cross the main drop off/pick up area for the hospital and I sure got some funny looks pushing my IV pole out across the street :)

I do have a lumbar puncture (spinal tap) tomorrow and my last one was by far the worst so I am a bit hesitant going into this one. We meet the Nurse Practitioner that is one working on the floor this week, Shemeka, who will do the procedure. She has a great personality and reassured me that the puncture will go smoothly. Please pray that I will be able to relax and that God will guide Shemeka as she performs the procedure. Thank you for your prayers really doesn't seem to express how much they mean to me, but I really have no other words... so thank you! We have a God who listens!

  1. Can't help but smile as I picture you outside in your pajamas, pushing an IV pole. Thank God that you feel well enough to be outside walking. Cathy
