placing all hope in God

Psalm 62:5-8 "Find rest, O my soul in God alone; my hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and honor depend on God, he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in Him at all times; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge."

Thank you for continuing to email and put Scripture verses on the blog for Katrina. In good times and through trials, being reminded of the character and attributes of God keeps us strong. The few verses above are loaded with truths of who God is & helps us keep the right focus!
Here are some recent answers to all of our prayers on Katrina's behalf. We got the report this AM on her lumbar puncture. It says, "No malignant cells identified". Her blood work from this AM shows normal liver function and the hemoglobin is up today-which we hoped it would be after getting the unit of blood yesterday. She got her Vincristine (this is very important to her treatment so please pray no side effects from it such as neuropathy and constipation) in the night and the Doxorubicin is running now for 24 hours. The 2nd drug looks like Kool-aid in a bag. Her potassium is a little low so she is getting IV potassium now~guess she needs to keep eating those bananas:)
Please pray today for no stomach issues from the meds. Her stomach has been feeling fine up until this AM but these meds can be hard on her stomach and she has had a slight headache since yesterday. She is not feeling her best this AM. Her doctor will be rounding soon so we'll see what he has to say. Her dad is flying to Houston from CA today so we are looking forward to having him here for a week! She continues to look toward discharge tomorrow. Thank you for caring and praying. Lori

  2. Katrina,

So glad your dad is coming today.. I'm sure you are all excited to see him!

Praise God for good results in the tests...and I could still bring those baby bananas to you if needed :)

My mom also received the "kool aid" mix...When I looked up the name because it sounded familiar and asked my dad, it is funny because he explained it exactly like that also..

Rest well today and I will pray you will be able to sleep at home without interruptions tomorrow!

  9. Amen & hallelujah! What wonderful test results! God is so faithful. He hears our prayers and so graciously & lovingly answers them.

    Matthew 7:7-8
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

Oh, I'm so glad your dad is coming! I know you can't wait to see him & spend some time with him at home.

I love your title today, "placing all hope in God". I found some beautiful scripture tonight I wanted to share.

Romans 5:2-3 "...And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance character; and character hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us."

Thinking of you & praying for you always!

    Love,
    Dawn Fenstad & Family

P.S. I showed Grace the recent pictures you posted on the blog and she LOVED the one of you eating ice cream (ice cream is her favorite food group!). And she told me, "mommy, you better show me every time Mrs. Yang puts new pictures on there."

  10. Katrina,
I love seeing all your pictures. I laughed reading the blog about you watching your K students from a distance because you couldn't be near them. K teachers do become little mama hens. So glad your sister came to visit and now dad can come too. Praying for you,
    Kami Rollins
