Inpatient chemo- Check!

"The Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion."
-Isaiah 30:18

I am officially done with the inpatient portion of chemo for this round... might I remind you this is the LAST round. Rewind to last night, I finally got moved to the 12th floor and am loving it. I have received great care on other floors, but have wonderful relationships here. Some of the day shift nurses won't be back tomorrow so at shift change they were all coming into say goodbye. As I said goodbye I was almost sad... being sad to leave when you are in for chemo speaks volumes about those that are taking care of you! I will truly miss each and every one of them. This afternoon I started to get the dreaded body aches and was given some morphine... it helped to keep the aches from spreading, but I still hurt quite a bit. I got another dose later and it has really seemed to help. I am hoping to continue to feel this well when I leave. I was supposed to have a CT of my head and neck to check the nodule on my thyroid that was found in course 4 tomorrow morning, but it was change to 5:00 this evening (awesome to get it out of the way!). My doctor thinks it is nothing, but we want to be sure. We are hoping he will have at least the preliminary report when I come back to the clinic on Monday. Tomorrow morning I will get a dose of IV antibiotics and my Neulasta shot then will be discharged. It is almost unreal that I am actually to this point in my treatment. I am scheduled to come back Monday to see Dr. K and have my final LP! The best news is that Sheena will be back from vacation, praise the Lord! On a side note, my LP done by Lindy on Tuesday went well and results show NO malagnat cells :) After Monday I will continue to have my blood work done to see if I need transfusions (which I'm sure I will need at least a few). September 5th will be day 21 (the official end of Course 8) and hopefully my counts will have recovered by then. Dr. K made it very clear that I will have to continue to be diligent in making sure I stay healthy even though it seems like I am done since the receiving of chemo is over. He said that many people let their guard down and have to come back with serious infections. Please pray that as my counts drop again that I will not get sick.

We went around and took some pictures of my favorite people around... the staff of G12 SW:
Carla
Christina
Kim
Tessie (my first nurse)
Bonnie and Ethel
Dahie
Oneyda
Miriama
Lola and Lorrina
Erlinda
Christina (our favortie transport person)
Marina
Eduardo

This is unfortunately not all of them, but hopefully I will get some more tomorrow before we leave!

Just for fun here is a picture of my mom and me in the Contact Isolation getup... during courses 2-7 she had to wear it when we were in the room and I had to wear it whenever we left the room. It was a pain, but fun to laugh about now that I am off!

  3. Our God is so faithful!! So thankful to know you are almost DONE!!! And so glad you were able to move back to the 12th floor for the last part. I've heard nurses called "angels of mercy" before - that certainly seems to be true of these ladies. What a blessing to feel this way at the end of it all.

    Love you!

  5. What wonderful news! How moving it is to see the OTHER side of the "Yang's Gang." These are the hands and hearts we are directly praying for and what a huge difference it makes when they become a part of your family...kind of like a teacher. You've been blessed with a strong team. Know that your spiritual team is still thinking of you, praying for you, and cheering you on to the finish line!!!
