~*course 7 is done*~

"The Lord is a refuge for His people and a stronghold."
-Joel 3:16

Your prayers on Katrina's behalf were answered this AM! She got her blood work done and saw Dr. Kantarjian before her scheduled time. As expected, her platelets were low. At MD Anderson, the policy is to transfuse at 10 and today hers were just 7. Please pray the platelets increase a lot over the next week. Her white count went up to .2 and any increase at this low level is welcome. Her nurse, Sue, told us Katrina had a room in the transfusion unit for noon- what an answer to yesterday's prayer request that was. She was called in early and the premeds were started. Her platelets were started by noon and we were back home before 2:00! It was so nice to have everything go so quickly and efficiently-better than we could have imagined.
She asked her doctor about getting off the potassium tablets, which tend to bother her stomach a bit, and she'd be aware of eating potassium rich foods. He agreed to that and told her she could also stop her magnesium tablets on the condition that she eat chocolate-no problem:)
She mentioned to her doctor that she felt a bit of discomfort in her throat recently and wondered about the thyroid nodule that was found on x-ray in May. Originally she was scheduled to see the endocrinologist the end of September for follow up on that but Dr. Kantarjian decided to do another CT scan in 2 weeks so please pray it can be easily treated or not a problem.
Katrina will have her blood work done locally next week and see her doctor on Thursday to evaluate how she is doing and when she can be admitted for course #8. Lori
