Monday Recap

"One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: that you, O God, are strong, and that you, O Lord, are loving."
Psalm 62:11-12

Now that I am over the disappointment of not being able to start round 6 today like I thought, I have to share the story of my appointment today. I went through the normal routine of getting my blood drawn and waiting to be called back to an exam room. I went over the normal questions with my nurse and then was examined by a fellow working with Dr. Kantarjian. After waiting and waiting Dr. Kantarjian walks in and says, "Were you excited about staying today? Because your not..." I wish I could convey how he said this. It was pretty funny. I'm glad that I at least have a doctor with a sense of humor. He then let me know that it is just to risky to start chemo with my platelets at 50. This was our following dialogue:
Dr. K: "Would you like to come back on Thursday or Monday?"
Me: "Can I come in sooner?"
Dr. K: "Okay, I will admit you on Thursday."
After that appointment I went up for my bone marrow aspiration. It went pretty well... I am sore tonight and probably will be tomorrow, but that's just how these things go. Your prayers for a quick healing would be wonderful! All in all it was a fairly quick day at MD Anderson.

My mom has wanted to go to Yao Ming's restaurant since she heard about it and since my counts were up enough to be out and about, but not good enough to stick around for chemo we decided to go out to lunch.

  1. So sorry about not starting today. Praying for you. "Be joyful always, pray continually; give thanks in ALL circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Love that you went to Yao's restaurant:) One of my students would be very jealous! Your mom looks so tiny in that picture.

    Lots of love from WI!

    John 6:35
Jesus said, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty."

We pray for healing. God bless.

  4. Katrina, the pictures are a nice surprise. You are one of God's best with an attitude of strength in faith. I mention you, along with two other cancer fighters when praying to our Lord. With my request for God's healing love, I'm always amazed of the outcome. For example, I've had a magazine,"Success", laying around for sometime. I took the time to read it this past week. There it was an article on foods to eat that destroy cancer cells, not just any cancer cells, Leukemia cells. ROSEMARY! Check your email because I'll send the article there. God Bless! Kay Milton

  7. We LOVE Yao's! We were taken there by Richard and Melanie from class. Did you see the "Yao Room?" It's in the back and it's for Yao and his homies. Everything is super big and when I tested out a chair my feet didn't touch the ground! We love the tea there and the Lo Mein is wonderful too. Let's all go together soon!
