"He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be numbered."
Job 9:10
This morning we headed back to MD Anderson for an appointment with my clinic doctor. Mondays are usually busy, but today seemed even busier than normal which means... you guessed it- waiting. We were prepared for a long day as my platelets have continued to drop and on Friday the PA we met with said I may need a transfusion. My platelets did drop, but still not quite low enough for a transfusion at this time. My platelet count does need to be up to 80 for chemo on Monday and right now I am at 28 so prayers for those to go up are needed. I will also have a bone marrow aspiration Monday before I am admitted to make sure that I continue to remain in remission. My white blood cell count has begun to go up. It was .1 on Friday and today is 1.7. The normal range is 4-11.
Speaking of remaining in remission, today I was reminded of how blessed I have been through my quick diagnosis and effective treatment. As I was waiting to do my blood work a girl probably not much older than I am came and sat next to me and she just looked defeated. I later overheard her talking with another woman about how she had completed her chemo and had a bone marrow transplant in November, but has relapsed and will now have to begin her treatment all over again. As I look forward to being done with my treatment at the end of August, I cannot even begin to imagine how I would feel if I was told that I would have to endure it all again. I also overheard some other women discussing how they were having to use wheelchairs because the chemo has caused neuropathy in their feet. As frustrated as I get with not being able to write or constantly dropping things, I am so thankful that the neuropathy has not affected my feet and my ability to walk.
I am so thankful for your constant encouragement and prayers for me as I fight leukemia, but today feel more compelled to ask for your prayers for others that are fighting this cancer as well. There are so many people who need your prayers for healing and more importantly a hope to keep going. Please lift these other patients up with me in your prayers today because we know that just as the verse above states, "He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be numbered." How great is our God!

Oh Katrina...bless you for thinking of others who also need prayer! You are truly amazing and I know God is using you mightily for His Kingdom work. It is wonderful that you are always looking for ways to be thankful in your situation. It is true it seems, that there is always someone less fortunate than us in any given situation. I will be praying for everything to be ready for your next round, for continued remission, for others you have encountered there, and for you to have a wonderful week with your loving, little Grandma :) I love you~

Katrina,
ReplyDeleteYour faith absolutely amazes me. I am in awe of how you seek His shelter through this storm. Continue to glorify Him and He will continue to bless. Of course I will be praying for the other cancer patients as well as you. Also praying that you will never experience a relapse or ever feel defeated.
"How many Kings stepped down from their thrown
How many Lords have abandoned their homes
How many greats have become the least for me
and
How many gods have poured out their hearts
to romance a world that's been torn all apart
How fathers gave up their sons for me"
Just thought you might want to waltz with Jesus...
With continued prayer,
Jacque Hardy and Family
