bump in the (chemo) road

"Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides You." Psalm 73:25

Last night I was excited to post that Katrina's in-patient chemo would be done early AM Friday and she was to be discharged Friday AM. I didn't get to that post because her temperature began to creep up last evening and the on-call doctor had to be notified around 9:00 pm when her temperature was 101.8. The doctor ordered blood and urine cultures and a chest x-ray. It seemed Katrina got put to the top of the pile because the transport aide was at her door quickly, the wait was short in x-ray, and others were there waiting, and she got back to the room in a timely manner. Her temp went up again when she got to the room so the on-call doctor was called again and ordered IV antibiotics for her. This AM her temp was up again and Dr. Verma came to see her twice today. He ordered a different IV antibiotic. One bag ran today and another will be started tonight. The disappointing news is that she will now stay until Sunday and she isn't feeling well. She has a headache, fatigue and chills as the fever goes up and down. She's been up in the chair and had some food to eat but not out of the room today. That is quite a difference from yesterday when she walked a lot and was planning to be home by Friday. The thing we are thankful for is that if she had to have a fever/infection it is best that it happened while she was here at MD Anderson as an in-patient and get immediate attention from the doctors and nurses who know her. She just finished a dose chemo and now only has one dose left sometime the middle of the night tonight to finish her in-patient course.
Please pray for the source of the fever to clear, her temperature to return to normal and for renewed strength both physically and emotionally. We again appreciate your prayers on her behalf. New week will be out-patient chemo to finish out course #4. Lori
(Happy birthday today, (Uncle) (brother)Dave:)

  3. Psalm 44:4-8
    "You are my King and my God
    who decrees victories for Jacob.
    Through you we push back our enemies;
    through your name we trample our foes.
    I do no trust in my bow,
    my sword does not bring me victory;
    but you give us victory over our enemies,
    you put our adversaries to shame.
    In god we make our boast all day long,
    and we will praise your name forever."

    Praying for you temperature to stay down and for you to regain strength so you can come home soon.
