Beginning of course 4

Psalm 27:14, "Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage."

It is 10:45 PM and Katrina's course 4 chemo has started. We are so happy because she got in her room late today- it was 7 pm before she could get to her room so the nurse really worked to get the chemo ordered and started as quickly as possible for which we are grateful!
At the start of a new course of chemo there is always some anxiety because if her counts are not up, she won't be admitted, we never know what area she will be in, she had a bone marrow scheduled and that can be painful. BUT thanks for your prayers, we have praises. Katrina's platelet count was up so she could be admitted and chemo could start, she is back on the 12th floor where the nursing staff knows her and she loves being here! The bone marrow aspiration was the easiest she has had so far. She told us that she didn't have pain but just the pressure and the fluid came easily. She walked a lot afterward as they advise this is the best way to help heal. We will let you know the results of that in a couple of days when she is given the results. Louis took the day off to be with her and get her settled -and grandma got to tour MD Anderson Cancer Center before flying back to Iowa tomorrow. It was wonderful to have her here for a week and she spoiled us all! Thank you for your prayers this week that the chemotherapy will go as planned and without any complications or negative reactions. Lori

Her night nurse is Saji- a sweet nurse who is so quiet at night, we hardly know she is coming in to check Katrina's IV's. Tonight won't be restful though because the first chemo drug needs to be monitored with frequent vital sign checks...oh well, at least she is getting the chemo started.

  1. I am so happy to hear you are on the 12th floor again! After I left from visiting with you, Rilynn and I took an elevator ride up to see my Uncle again and I said a little prayer that the 12th floor would open up. :)
It was so nice to see you today, continually praying for you through round 4!

  2. Praying for you as the chemo runs and that everything will run smoothly. What a blessing that God has allowed each time to be spent on the 12th floor and make that part so much easier since you are used to that place!

    Continually praying for you!
