"Cast your cares on the lord and he will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall."
-Psalm 55:22
Yesterday we left the house at 8:00 for my appointments at MD Anderson. The Leukemia area was packed (standing room only) so we knew we would be in for a long wait. Once I got called back to meet with Dr. Kantarjian I overheard him and the nurses talking about my counts and I heard, "Platelets are only 48." As much as I wanted to be admitted yesterday, I was glad to hear that my platelets had gone up that much over the weekend. Dr. Kantarjian has scheduled me for admission on Thursday. He said to do blood work here in Katy on Wednesday and if my platelets are above 60, I will go in to be admitted Thursday. If they are not 60, I will call and reschedule my appointment for Monday. The other good news is that my white count went back up (hopefully that will continue); however, my hemoglobin continued to drop and was pretty low. I was scheduled to receive 2 units of blood, unfortunately the only time they had available for me was 7:00 pm! Not wanting to stay at the hospital that long, Louis and I decided to go entertain ourselves for a while. We went shopping at Super Target, got dinner at Which Which, and ice cream at Ben and Jerry's! Then it was back to the hospital to wait for my room... which of course they were running late. By the time I got a room, took pre-meds, and had each unit of blood run over 2 hours... it was 1:00 am. We have set records for long days before, but this one takes the cake! After being gone for 17 and a half hours, I crashed as soon as we got home... thank goodness we were both able to sleep in today. Please continue to pray for those platelets to go up above 60 by Thursday. Thanks so much!

ReplyDeleteI can't imagine what a tiring day this was. It's so very humbling to hear how you take joy in such the small pleasures (Super Target and Ben & Jerry's) which I know are huge! Praying for that magic number on Thursday!!!
