6th floor... who knew?

“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus."
-Phillipians 4:19

Yesterday I made it into a room by about 6:00 pm after a long day of waiting. However, we are getting a lot better at entertaining ourselves during these long days of waiting... we leave :) I had orders by 10:00 so after we turned them in, we went to a fun grocery store Central Market to get some snacks for the hospital stay. We saw a giant Borders so we checked that out too and stopped in Whole Foods since we don't have one close to home. By then it was after noon so we went and ate at Fresh Express. After lunch I was pretty tired from all of our shopping so we headed back to the hospital to wait. I got a room on the 6th floor which I didn't even realize was leukemia. Later I asked my nurse and she said they are primarily a floor for lung cancer, but they secondarily take leukemia patients since the need is so great. This room leaves much to be desired... it is the smallest, has the smallest window and bathroom, has no bed for a guest, and once you put the chair out to make a bed, there is no room for me to make it to the bathroom without great maneuvering skills (which I am no good at in the middle of the night half asleep!). That all said, I am thankful to be here because once again some other leukemia patients that I was waiting with were sent home to wait for a room available today. The nurses and staff here have been nice as well, so I can't complain. Chemo started at 11:00 last night which means I should be done late Monday night (midnight). I also will have my 13th LP sometime this afternoon, the time depends on when Sheena can come down. I stopped on her floor yesterday to see if she could do the procedure and she was more than happy to set it up. I know I have said it before, but I will say it again, I am so thankful for her and her willingness to rearrange her schedule for me!

  1. I'm so happy you got in to begin your next to last treatment! Now you have a whole new floor to explore and new friends to meet! I'm so excited to hear that Sheena can come do your lumbar puncture. What a special person she must be!
Praying for the easiest round ever!

  2. Thanks for the update. I was wondering how everything was going for you. I suppose that the better rooms are for new patients to the treatment. Know that someone else needed special attention and a better room to help them get through their treatment.

You have come so far. Stay strong in the Lord, Katrina.

    God bless you and Yang.

  4. Praying for you girl as you have begun your 7th round! I'm sure that the sooner you get done with this round....the sooner you can start your LAST round! God has been faithful through this journey. I'm thankful that you have been able to see His goodness through all of this, in spite of the difficulties you have faced. You continue to teach us all! Be strong....and I will continue to pray that this round will have as few of side effects as possible! Shelly J.
