"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
Isaiah 40:31
Although I was hoping that my counts would be up today, I knew deep down my platelets would still be low. I was not expecting them to have dropped back down to 5 again! The nurse called Dr. Hsu (he takes Fridays off) and he ordered a platelet transfusion. Please pray that my body won't just kill these off like last time. My white count is up a little from 0.1 to 0.4, but still no where near the normal range. Looks like I will be spending the weekend at home again. Since my counts are all so low we are anticipating Dr. Kantarjian postponing my admission again. I go back to MD Anderson on Monday so we will see what he says. My dad leaves tomorrow to drive back to California, it has been great to see him I just feel bad we couldn't really do much. My mom has decided to go back with him so she can help with driving and just to be home for a while since I most likely won't be going back in for chemo until next week. Please continue to pray for my counts and that my admission isn't postponed too much. I am so anxious to get on with this process so I can be done.
On a side note, thank you to everyone who has donated blood and platelets! Since I did blood work in Katy this morning, I went to the hospital next to Dr. Hsu's office for my transfusion. After being checked in and having my blood work done again to type and cross for the transfusion, I was set up in a room. Quite a while after my nurse came in and told me the blood bank they worked with did not have any of the platelets I needed. For about another hour they called around to find someone that did. Long story short, I got what I needed, but had to wait quite a while because there is a blood and platelet shortage. Now I see first hand exactly how important it is to donate blood and platelets!

We love you sweet friend! We will be praying for your parents' trip and for your numbers to increase. I am doing a Beth Moore study on the Psalms of Ascent...and learning about our journey from one place to another. I wait with anticipation for this journey of yours to come to an end and for a full recovery! I pray for any delays to be shortened!
ReplyDeleteKatrina: I can only begin to imagine the challenges you face for having patience and faith that God is in control. i certainly will continue to pray for you and this strength daily as well as for your parents on their return to CA.

Weg!
I'm a friend of Kali (Carroll) Johnston's and I follow your blog and pray for you daily. I give platelets often, but live in GA...I'm guessing since they have a shelf life of 5 days that probably wouldn't work but I wish it could....but I know my prayers do.
