An electrocardiogram was done this morning to check the heart.
The doctor came and reported that they are one test short in 100% confirming that it is Burkitt's leukemia (a sub-type of acute lymphoblastic leukemia). Katrina will start chemo tomorrow morning.

Katrina,
ReplyDeleteIt was so good to hear from YOU a little while ago. I wasn't sure if you would read your email first or this, so I wanted to write to you on both.
We have been thinking about you and praying for you since we got the news. I added you to the Prayer List with my Bible study group - and believe me - those ladies are prayer warriors! So if you start to feel as though you're floating on air - it's just all of us lifting you up, up, up in prayer!!!
I don't believe I shared this with you, but I am a 12-year breast cancer survivor. I was diagnosed when I was 29 with stage II infiltrating ductal carcinoma, which had spread to my lymph nodes. I had a lumpectomy, 6 months of chemotherapy, 6 weeks of daily radiation and took Tamoxifen for 5 years. I was & still am a patient at MD Anderson - good ol' patient #368880 (you'll have your number memorized in no time!) - and I know in my heart their medicine, the love and support of my family & friends AND the absolute, infinite & mighty power of prayer saved my life.
Psalm 30:2 "O Lord my God, I called to you for help and you healed me."
Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
And one more thing - you come out swinging baby! This is a down & dirty fight. Never put your guard down and never doubt for one second that you're alone in this battle. The hand of the Almighty will get you through this - His mercies are new every day. You just have to stay strong, stay positive and stay faithful - through the fire we are refined and made new again!
Now get in there and kick cancer's butt!
Love you,
Dawn
Reading your email today brought tears to my eyes. You have such a sweet, tender, gentle spirit about you. Cast your burdens on the Lord and if you find that is too hard to do then pray He just take them from you. Please know we are praying for you daily (if not by the hour). Trip absolutely adores you and I want you to know you have my heart. We are loving and praying for you.
ReplyDeleteWith continued prayer,
Jacque
We love you! Praying for comfort and effectiveness tomorrow...
ReplyDeleteYou are in our hearts and prayers. You have been a wonderful teacher for my Avery and she loves you very much. Our family will be one of the many lifting you up. Praying for courage, hope, confidence, hope, healing, and peace.
ReplyDeleteKatrina,
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful to hear from you today, I have been thinking and praying for you all day! Please know that you are so loved, and that Landri absolutely adores you. Our family is praying for you as well as many of our family members and friends. We are here for you for whatever you may need!
We love you,
Angie and Landri
