Although my struggles are far different than Mother Teresa, I relate well to her quote:
"I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish he didn't trust me so much."
After a rough start this morning things are looking up. I am definitely in less pain which is nice, but still pretty stiff and sore. I went to Dr. Hsu's office this morning to check my calcium levels. Right when we were about to leave I started feeling really nauseous, but thankfully didn't get sick! I don't really have any new information since my mom's post as we are still waiting on the pathology report from my lymph nodes. Right now it sounds like I will have to go on a low iodine diet for 2 weeks then take a small amount of radioactive iodine for a scan. If there is any uptake (the iodine attaches to any thyroid or caner cells left) I will have to do the internal radiation. If there is no uptake I will be done. Dr. Grubbs (my surgeon) thinks she may have gotten all of it, but she can't be sure. I will see Dr. Waguespack (my endocrinologist) Tuesday to discuss my schedule for the diet and scan. I am hoping that he will let me wait until after Thanksgiving for the diet or it will be no turkey, stuffing, and gravy for this girl. Please continue to pray for a quick recovery and the scheduling of what comes next.
