"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made."
-Psalm 139:13-14
Today was a fairly efficient day at MD Anderson which is always welcome. I got called back to do my blood work about 5 minutes after I got there (for some reason my doctor's nurse pushed me ahead of others... no complaints here!). I was stressed about my blood work as they have had a hard time finding a vein to get blood since I had my PICC line removed. The past two times, I almost passed out. Thankfully I got a new lady who was WONDERFUL... she got me in the arm on the FIRST time! I am hoping she is there again when I go back next month! I had my handy list of questions to ask Dr. K again today. One of my questions was about the difference between Burkitt's lymphoma and Burkitt's leukemia because from the reading I have done, it seemed like they were the same thing. I found out that they are indeed the same, the lymphoma becomes labeled as leukemia if the cancer goes to the bone marrow. This is also considered stage 4 lymphoma (some things are better left to find out until after treatment!). My counts are continuing to look good. Both my platelets and hemoglobin are in the normal range, woohoo! My white count is still on the low side, but the doctor said I should be fine to fight infection because of my ANC count was good. Dr. Kantarjian also asked about my thyroid removal and I told him that they had not scheduled my consult yet. He decided to send the orders again today to make sure things went through. He scheduled me to see him again November 1st and wants my thyroid out before that appointment. He said if I don't hear anything this week to call him so he can take care of it. He is wonderful! I did e-mail the endocrinologist who confirmed that the orders were sent and they were being reviewed by the surgeon so I am hoping this will mean we can schedule a consult soon! I also had a bone marrow aspiration today. It went well, but I am pretty sore and probably will be tomorrow as well. Please continue to pray for a quick scheduling of my surgery, thanks!

A proverb of Solomon, son of David:
ReplyDelete"Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and humankind."
Our prayers go out for your surgery soon and the doctors and nurses with you. God bless you, Katrina.
